Nar Phu Valley trek, special and popular trekking destination though newly opened trail situated in Annapurna region of Nepal. The main attraction of this trek is it provides an opportunity to explore into two hidden remote valleys i.e Nar and Phu located at the upper Mustang districts. This trail is also known as “Hidden Valley Trek of Nepal”.
During the trail, we can have an amazing view of Annapurna massif, Langtang, Pisang, Chulus, Manaslu, Kangru and other various peaks including peaceful forest, glaciers, narrow canyon and rock formations backed up by the remote valley. The trail takes us to The Kang La Pass (5306m), highest point of the trail. Though this trail is one of the beautiful destination but it is challenging as well and very few trekkers had successes but those who succeed had a lifetime achievement.
The Phu valley is rich in its cultural aspect as it holds great importance for Buddhist pilgrims. Most of the people visit here to Thashi Gompa so to receive blessings from Lama Rinpoche. People here follow unique Hiamalayan culture. Most of the people are Gurung, Lama and Tamang. Trekkers will get chance to experience their unique culture and their lifestyle. The best time to visit this trail is on March – May and September- December. The combine valley Nar and Phu are remote villages that lie in the lap of the Himalayans, situated to north from Manang.
It is one of the best adventurous treks full of natural sceneries which needs physically fit travelers. Though the valley is exciting and amazing but few travelers only visit here as the trail is off the beaten and has only opened officially in 2003.This trek begins from Kathmandu to that may take approx 9 hours. Then it follows Annapurna circuit trail which is the most popular trekking route. We head up to Koto then we cross the bridge that leads us over the Marshyangdi River to the steep portals of the Nar Phu valley.
The route to Nar Phu is narrow and forested but we can have amazing view up above to a huge wilderness of high snow-peaks, ancient villages and high altitude grazing settlements. This valley was first exposed only in the 1950 by Tillman while walking the highlands of Tibet. Nar Phu is surrounded by many high and beautiful mountain peaks such as Mount Annapurna, Machhapuchhre Himal, Annapurna Massif, Lamjung Himal, Manaslu Himal, Dhaulagiri Himal and Tilicho Peak. The valley is also called a hidden valley where we can experience the ancient culture, lifestyle and tradition of people living there.
